U.S. writer Jonathan Levi is the author of the novels A Guide for the Perplexed and Septimania, as well as many plays and opera libretti that have been performed from the US to Georgia (Tbilisi). A founding editor of Granta magazine, Levi has written political and cultural journalism for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Conde Nast Traveler, as well as many short stories. A lyricist and violinist, his recent albums include Brotherhood with Laurasia, and Lives of the Artists, with music by his long-time collaborator Mel Marvin. He Directs the Gabriel García Márquez Fellowship in Cultural Journalism in Cartagena, Colombia and teaches creative writing at Nel Mezzo del Cammin in Italy. Levi currently lives in Rome.
